Sequins for Life

Can we just take a second to talk about how in love I am with this skirt? Growing up a small town in Louisiana, there was never a chance to wear sequins. Heck, there was never a chance to wear anything exciting for that matter. School outfits consisted of blue jeans, tshirts, and tennis shoes. If we felt a little daring, we wore boots. Life was a lot different back then before I found myself and who I wanted to be. Not in the sense of a future career, but as in finding myself - that inner person who depicts every way you think, feel, and do and tells you not to care what others think. If I would have worn sequins back then..well, I wouldn’t have worn sequins back then. I would’ve been so worried that everyone would think I stood out just a little too much for the wrong reasons. I would’ve brought a change of clothes so that when the first person started staring, I could run in the bathroom and change. I hated attention. I actually loathed it. That went well into college, until I met my sweetheart.

My husband, John, taught me to love myself and to be who I wanted to be, whether that meant being stared at or not. With constant compliments and encouragement, I’ve thankfully changed from that small town girl (in mind, not in heart) to a brave adult who, well, just doesn’t seem to care much these days what people think. I’ve started wearing bright baubles, sequins in every form possible, four inch heels, pearls, colored denim, and *gasp*… red lipstick. When it comes to my wardrobe these days, the more colorful, the better. When I first met John, I wore black and gray. A LOT. I know, it doesn’t seem like me, right? Exactly. For years I’ve heard that stand-out colors actually help to put you in a good mood. That saying rings more true to me now than it ever has. It’s absolutely true!!

If you’re one of those girls (or women) who feel like you can’t wear colorful clothing or bright, gawdy necklaces, if you’re one who doesn’t see the point in sequins or pearls, if you’ve never met a tube of lipstick that you like, then meet me. Meet the girl I am now - the one who lives a brighter life and feels 10x better about herself. Age, size, weight..they all have nothing to do with how you should feel on the inside. Bring out your inner fabulousness and rock whatever it may be you’re keeping deep down on the inside!!

And, if it’s sequins that is hiding deep down in there…bring it out! has the most amazing sequined outfits ever. I say, this Christmas, you should be decked out in this matter who you are.
